About

The Gramounce is an independent educational platform offering an innovative Alternative MA (altMA) that centers food as a political, cultural, and artistic subject. Based online and operating globally, the program reimagines postgraduate education outside of institutional frameworks by focusing on interdisciplinary exploration and experimental methodologies. Rooted in artistic research, the altMA fosters deep engagement with food systems, ecological issues, and cultural histories through lectures, tutorials, and optional in-person residencies. Its online format is designed for flexible participation and offers live weekly sessions alongside recorded access, making it globally accessible to artists, researchers, and cultural practitioners. The curriculum spans critical topics like food sovereignty, colonial histories, multispecies ecologies, and gendered food politics. Participants engage with a wide array of thinkers, artists, and researchers who work at the intersection of food, art, ecology, and philosophy. The Gramounce promotes community, collaboration, and radical knowledge-sharing, nurturing an international network of critically engaged creatives. The platform also provides limited scholarships and work exchange opportunities for online participants, aiming to increase access and support diverse voices.
