Boghossian Foundation Residency

The Boghossian Foundation Residency, nestled in the Villa Empain's serene gardens in Brussels, offers a unique retreat for artists from diverse backgrounds. Established in the refurbished housekeeper’s building, the residency has been a creative sanctuary since its opening in 2010. Dedicated to fostering Eastern and Western cultural dialogue, the Foundation annually welcomes award winners from the Boghossian Foundation Prize in Lebanon and collaborates with Creative Armenia to host three Armenian artists each year. This vibrant residency serves as a laboratory for contemporary ideas, facilitating international interactions among artists, curators, writers, and scientists. Located in the Villa Empain, the residency provides a common living area, individual bedrooms, and a shared studio, available 24/7, for stays of two to three months.

Chateau d'Orquevaux (Château d'Orquevaux)

The Chateau d'Orquevaux artist residency, set in France's tranquil Champagne-Ardenne, offers an idyllic environment for artists and writers. This program features private studios and bedrooms, set within a historic French chateau, providing a serene space for creative endeavors. All meals are included, allowing residents to fully immerse in their art without daily distractions. The Denis Diderot Grant, awarded to participants, assists with residency costs, highlighting the program's dedication to supporting artists. Community engagement is encouraged through artist presentations, literature nights, and group art activities, fostering a rich cultural exchange. The residency, accommodating around 15 artists at a time, ensures an intimate and supportive atmosphere. A welcoming champagne dinner introduces artists to the Chateau and fellow residents, setting the tone for a collaborative experience. The program, while offering vegetarian options, focuses on delivering a genuine regional culinary experience, enhancing the overall artistic journey.

In Cahoots Residency

Sonoma County, California, United States

In Cahoots Residency, located in pastoral Sonoma County, California, offers a unique collaborative environment for artists. It provides housing and studio space for emerging and professional artists, focusing on artists' books, letterpress, printmaking, writing, and collaboration. The residency accommodates three to five artists at a time for sessions ranging from 6 days to 3 weeks. Artists are housed in private guest houses with kitchens and full bathrooms and have 24-hour access to shared studios or an individual writing studio. The residency encourages artists to pursue creative projects or research, with options for technical instruction or creative mentorship for an additional fee. A work-share session concludes each residency, where artists share their progress and are required to donate a piece of artwork to the In Cahoots Residency Archive. The facility includes a renovated barn for printmaking and book arts, a letterpress studio, and a separate book bindery, equipped with various presses and tools. Artists are responsible for their own cooking, with weekly rides to the grocery store provided for those without a car.

SIM Residency (SÍM Residency)

Reykjavik, Iceland

The SÍM Residency, an initiative of SÍM - The Association of Icelandic Visual Artists, stands as a beacon of artistic growth and cultural immersion in Reykjavik, Iceland. Founded by SÍM, Iceland's largest organization for professional artists, the residency upholds the association’s commitment to enhancing artists' livelihoods and rights. Evolving from a modest apartment to a hub hosting international artists, it has become Reykjavik's most established and inspirational artist residency. With locations at Seljavegur in the bustling city center and Korpúlfsstaðir on the serene outskirts, the residency offers diverse environments for artistic work, housing around 70 studios including specialized facilities for Textiles, Ceramics, and Printmaking. This setup fosters a dynamic and collaborative community, enabling artists to engage deeply with their practice. SÍM Residency’s commitment to international exchange is evident in its numerous partnerships across Europe, promoting a global artistic dialogue and collaboration. Participating artists benefit from a range of programs, including public events and solo exhibitions, while also enjoying privileged access to Reykjavik’s prominent cultural institutions through the SÍM Guest Artist card.
