Founded in 1995, the program operates within the historical Civitella Ranieri Castle—a 15th-century fortress offering a unique blend of solitude and community. Over the years, Civitella has welcomed more than 1,000 Fellows and Director’s Guests, comprising writers, composers, and visual artists from around the globe. The foundation provides a nurturing environment that promotes concentrated work and honest exchange among culturally diverse participants.
