Nawat Fes offers residencies for U.S. and international artists across multiple disciplines, including visual and performance art, music, literature, and literary translation. The program aims to introduce new international voices to the Moroccan community, prioritizing artists not currently residing in Morocco. Artist collaboratives of up to three people are eligible, provided they hold passports that allow for Moroccan tourist visa eligibility. Residents are provided with simple, private studio spaces in Dar Bennis, though there are limitations for visual artists and sound-based creators due to the shared nature of the live-work space. Specifically, visual artists may not use materials that emit fumes, and sound-based artists must use headphones to avoid disturbing others. The residency emphasizes the importance of respecting the shared live-work environment while fostering artistic growth. An application fee is required, with waivers available for those facing economic hardship or lacking secure online payment methods. Nawat Fes seeks to cultivate artistic development within the constraints of its facilities and the communal living situation.
